Suggestion- There should be a better way to play this game to make the game more fun and memorable. I was thinking of it being something like this.

New Rules: There is 1 Murderer, 1 Deceptive, 1 Sheriff, 1 Civilian, and the rest are innocents. However, if there are less than 15 players, there will just be 1 Murderer, 1 Deceptive, 1 Sheriff, and rest are innocents.

What is a Deceptive/Civilian?
Deceptive and Civilians are super alignments. Roles fall under this category.

Jester:
Alignment- Deceptive (Disorder)

What it does: You and the murder win if the Sheriff shoots their gun at YOU. You have a fake murderer sword (that doesn't really do damage) to make it look like you are the murderer to the Sheriff even though you are just a jester.

The murderer will see you as Deceptive and can not kill you. If the Murderer gets killed, you lose. Also, you can not talk.

Forger:
Alignment- Deceptive (Corrupt)

What it does: You have a forger's quill (that resembles as a feather) in your inventory that you can use up to three times. When used, the Murderer will be given a forged government official document that lasts for 15 seconds. During this time, if the Sheriff kills the Murderer while they hold the forged document, the Murderer and the Deceptives win instead of the innocents.

The murderer will see you as Deceptive and can not kill you. If the Murderer gets killed, you lose. Also, you can not talk.

Framer:
Alignment- Deceptive (Corrupt)

What it does: You have a framer's frame (that resembles as an item frame) in your inventory that you can use up to three times. When used, it will last for 20 seconds and a random innocent will have their inventory full of fake murderer swords (that do not really kill people) that they can not drop out of their inventory. This is to make them look like the Murderer to the rest of the innocents and the Sheriff.

The murderer will see you as Deceptive and can not kill you. If the Murderer gets killed, you lose. Framers, and framed targets can not talk.

If someone gets framed, they get the message: "You were framed by the Framer!"

Blackmailer:
Alignment- Deceptive (Deterrence)

What it does: As long as you are alive, innocents will not be able to talk. If you get killed, everyone else will now be able to talk.

The murderer will see you as Deceptive and can not kill you. If the Murderer gets killed, you lose. Blackmailers themselves can not talk.

Consort:
Alignment- Deceptive (Deterrence)

What it does: You have a distraction rose (that resembles as a poppy) in your inventory that you can use up to three times. When used, it will prevent the Sheriff and all other civilian roles with abilities from using their abilities for 20 seconds.

The murderer will see you as Deceptive and can not kill you. If the Murderer gets killed, you lose. You can not talk. Escorts are immune to distraction.

Perjurer:
Alignment- Deceptive (Disorder)

What it does: You have three forged documents (that resembles as paper) that you can use up to three times. When used, the murderer will have their murderer sword look like the Sheriff's gun and the Sheriff will have their gun look like the murderer sword. However, the Sheriff with the fake murderer sword will still get killed upon killing an innocent. If a Sheriff that has a fake murderer sword dies, you have to wait for the new Sheriff in order to use your ability again.

The murderer will see you as Deceptive and can not kill you. If the Murderer gets killed, you lose. You can not talk.

Hypnotist:
Alignment- Deceptive (Deterrence)

What it does: You have crippling ornaments (that resembles as eye of ender) that you can use unlimited times. When thrown at a player (that is the Sheriff, a random innocent, or a Civilian), they will have <blindness/nausea> and slowness for 15 seconds. ONE PLAYER CAN BE EFFECTED AT A TIME.

The murderer will see you as Deceptive and can not kill you. If the Murderer gets killed, you lose. You can not talk.

Oracle:
Alignment- Civilian (Investigative)

You have a special reveal star (that resembles as a nether star) that you can use only up to three times in the game. When its used, a random person's role will appear above their head for 20 seconds. You will be notified the name and role of that person.

You can not talk. If you get killed, a new Civilian will NOT be chosen.

Alchemist:
Alignment- Civilian (Tactical)

You spawn with two random splash/drinking potions that lasts for a certain amount of time. Splash potions will only work on one person excluding yourself. The potions you can get:

Splash/Drinking Potion of Resistance: Protects you (or the person) from all attacks. - 10 seconds

Splash/Drinking Potion of Jump Boost: Allows you (or the person) to jump higher. - 20 seconds

Splash/Drinking Potion of Invisibility: Allows you (or the person) to be invisible. - 10 seconds.

Splash/Drinking Potion of Glow: Allows you (or the person) to have their role revealed above their head. - 10 seconds

You can not talk. If you get killed, a new Civilian will NOT be chosen.

Medium:
Alignment- Civilian (Scout)

You are able to hear what dead players are saying. When someone is dead and you are alive, they will get a message: "Only the Medium can hear you!". The Medium can send up to 5 messages only.

If you get killed, a new Civilian will NOT be chosen.

Doctor:
Alignment- Civilian (Protective)

You are able to tap an innocent to heal them. You can only heal one person at a time. The Murderer will have to use their sword 3-4 times in order to successfully kill the healed person.

You can not talk. If you get killed, a new Civilian will NOT be chosen.

Escort:
Alignment- Civilian (Tactical)

You have a distraction rose (that resembles as a poppy) in your inventory that you can use up to three times. When used, it will prevent the Murderer and deceptive roles with abilities from using their abilities for 20 seconds.

You can not talk. If you get killed, a new Civilian will NOT be chosen. Consorts are immune to distraction.

Additional Information:
If the Sheriff gets killed, Civilians can NOT craft the Sheriff's gun.

I am in confusion. It's too complicated for me.

honestly this idea is actually really cool and interesting. i like it, reminds me of the game mafia xd it might be too “complex” though as there are a handful of roles.

also you are quIte good at explaining

Pretend you are in a game with 24 players.

There will be 1 Deceptive role (Jester, Forger, Framer, Blackmailer, Consort, Perjurer, or Hypnotist)
There will be 1 Murderer (as always).
There will be 1 Civilian role (Oracle, Medium, Escort, Alchemist, Doctor)
There will be 1 Sheriff (as always).
Then, there will be 20 innocents.

All in all, that adds up to 24 players.

ONLY the Murderer will see the word "Deceptive" and their role above the person's head, and can not kill the Deceptive. If the Murderer gets killed, the Deceptive loses as well and the innocents/civilians win. If Deceptive gets killed, then Murderer can still win without their help.

On the other hand, if Murderer kills everyone or if a certain Deceptive allows the Murderer to win, they both win.

Normally, if a Sheriff gets killed, an innocent (NOT civilian) can become the new Sheriff. However, if a Civilian gets killed, an innocent can not become the new civilian role.

Hope that makes sense to you.

Oh now I get it. I thought that there was one of each role {eg. one Jester, one Oracle, one Doctor, etc.}. :p

This idea is really well thought-out and planned! I think this could be a great new game to add to BrokenLens. Great job!

Honestly, this seems like something that’s way too complicated and hard to figure out. I like the look of this but to be completely honest it’d probably take so long to do and debug that it’s really not worth the wait. Don’t fix what’s broken, nothing wrong with what we’ve got.
