How could I make dis bettah

SO I'm making a very simple 16x Pack, kinda like the plastic texture pack but with quite a few things different. I have no idea for tone of the most important things: the logs. I've tried this and I need ideas of how to make it better/ideas for new log texture because Idon't think this is very good.

Add some mixs on every color it will be perfect i suggested to the grass block mix lime and green to make a little cool!

Looks nice maybe add lines to planks like light brown and dark brown on spruce
