Hello! Today I'm going to explain the story of UNDERTALE for people who don't know it at all, have some pieces of story missing, or even people who want to see what my take on the story is, although for some things to make sense you will probably have to have some small idea of what UNDERTALE is, so I'll give areally short explanation.

Long ago, there was a time where Monsters and Humans lived together in peace.
But war broke out when Humans realized Monsters could absorb Human SOULS.
After a long war, humans finally defeated Monsters and sealed them under a mountain with an ancient spell that could only be removed with the power of 7 human SOULS.
The power of a monster SOUL is tiny compared to human's and thousands of monster SOULS is BARELY one human SOUL.
Monster SOULS require at least one of these to exist;
Patience
Bravery
Integrity
Perseverance
Kindness
Justice
Or in one very confusing and rare situation, Determination.

Monster SOULS cannot harness the power of Determination, excluding Undyne The Undying for the Genocide playthrough in which the player strikes her down in a single blow, but before she dies she becomes determined to kill you and initiates (In my opinion) the hardest boss battle in the game.

Okay, with that out of the way let me begin the story from before and during the game.

[Before]

The first human to fall into the Underground, Chara climbs mount ebbot (a mountain in which people are said to go missing and is actually one of the only ways to get into the Underground (But not back out) and intends to throw herself into the chasm and kill herself. (The reason she went there is heavily insinuated by Asriel to be suicide. "
I know why Chara climbed the mountain. It wasn't for a very happy reason. Frisk. I'll be honest with you. Chara hated humanity. Why they did, they never talked about it. But they felt very strongly about that.")
Once she fell down, she was discovered by Asriel, son of Queen Toriel and King Asgore, Asriel helps Chara and brings Her to his parents, who adopt her. Chara wanted to leave the Underground as much as the other monsters. One day, Asriel and Chara made a cake for their father (Asgore) and mistakenly used Buttercups (Flower) Instead of Cups of butter. (Dairy product). Upon tasting the cake Chara became fatally ill, and on her deathbed told Asriel of her wish to see the golden flowers of her village once more. Chara, too sick eventually died. Asriel, wracked with grief, took Chara's SOUL and crossed the barrier. (It was possible for a single entity who had one human SOUL and one monster SOUL to cross but not break the barrier) Upon carrying Chara's body into her village, the villagers thought Asriel killed Chara and attacked him, but Asriel couldn't bring himself to hurt anyone, so he died. King Asgore, furious and Sad, said that he would kill every human that fell into the underground until he had the seven human SOULS needed. The queen, disgusted with Asgore left him and went to the place Chara fell into and made a home there, with a one-way door that you could only leave to the rest of the underground but not come back.
Six humans fell, Six humans died.

[What happens in the game]

Frisk (The player) Was the eighth human to fall into the underground, was met with a Buttercup (Flower) Named
Flowey. Flowey, being the kind and helpful creature he was, instantly tried to con and kill Frisk as soon as they met, only keeping the facade of a happy flower for a few moments. When the Player is on 1 HP Toriel, the queen comes and smacks Flowey around a bit before he flies off screen. She leads you through the RUINs (The place she made a home in) And brings you to her house, upon inquiring when you can go home, she tries to destroy the door to the rest of the underground, not to hurt you, but to keep you safe from being murdered and having your soul taken. She asks you to prove you are strong enough to survive and engages you in battle, with the same outcome if you kill or spare her.

At the end of the game, you finally come Face-to-face with Asgore, and he tries to kill you. On the pacifist route you lower his HP then spare him, and then Flowey comes and murders him just as soon as he offers you a loving home, place, and family in the underground.
He then absorbs the six human SOULS and becomes a photoshop nightmare. upon killing the
monster you are left with just a sad little flower begging you to kill him, as all flowers do. When you refuse he says if you let him live he will kill everyone you know and love, charming. Upon refusing again he runs away like a little bit- female dog. He then comes and is like "Hey, go make friends again, lemme load ur old save file and you can finally get your happy ending." upon doing as he requests he then comes and kills everyone you know and love, absorbing their SOULS. At least he didn't lie to you. Upon fusing with the six human SOULS and all the monster SOULS which happen to be exactly enough to amount to a human soul he finally achieves his true form, Asriel Dreemurr. Hey, Flowey was Asriel that's cool, I guess. (Fun fact, Asriel Dreemurr is an anagram for Serial Murderer)
Upon saving your friends he turns back to normal and explains how he was turned into a flower and when he's in that form he can't control himself or feel empathy, and then turns back into a flower. The barrier is broken, the monsters are freed and live with humans in peace.

On the genocide playthrough you kill Asgore (Followed by him getting obliterated by Flowey who then begs for his life until you strike him down into less than dust) and then the SOUL of Chara appears to you and asks you to erase the world with her, on saying yes the game crashes and when turned back on there is a black screen with the sound of wind. On saying no, she flips her sh*t and erases it anyway with the same conclusion as if you agreed. wait on the wind screen for ten minutes and Chara says she will restore the game if you give her your SOUL. if you say no nothing happens, if you agree the world is reset but if you beat pacifist again in the end cutscene it shows that Chara has possessed you, fun!
