my reasoning being-

guns might not do anything to it
beds are stereotypically terrible places to hide
it's probably faster than you and running away would only draw its attention
fire and oil are good, fun materials!

and if you use them in combination with Strel's fire it will be even more explosive

if a monster appears in front of you being quiet nor running away will help, and throwing a bomb would just be a terrible idea
plus you would probably shoot the weapon no matter what if it's all ready to use in your hand
although you shouldn't assume it's a gun! bows, lasers, swords, words, missiles, water guns, and light sabers are perfectly good weapons of choice!

cars are generally the fastest of these, and nobody said you couldn't mount defensive weapons to the sun roof

some scenarios for the last question-
monster: *knocks on door*
person: *opens door* hello there!
person: *subtly dials 911 and engages monster in political conversations until the police arrive, who don't know what to do any better than you*

monster: *knocks on door*
person: *opens door* hello there!
person: *turns around and skips up to bedroom, which is coincidentally the first place anyone looks*
this reminds me of a certain one-person hide and seek demon ritual

monster: *knocks on door*
person: *opens door* hello there!
person: *(same as the first one but instead of carrying on a conversation locks the doors and waits while humming the digits of pi)*

monster: *knocks on door*
person: *opens door*
person: *stares mutely*

none of these are good options, but if you locked the door, called the police, called your local monster agency, crept up to a room that can only be accessed by a secret passage through narnia, and only recited the digits of pi in your head and kept quiet, except for the sound of cake being eaten..
