Recently on minecraft skywars had a trend of making optical illusion as traps. I wonder if it is allowed here as well... because most others do allow

Maybe he meant make a cobblestone stair and break the cobblestone with pickaxe to make the player fall to void when the player is on the stair, I think? Or maybe its a stair made of trapdoor and tap the trap door when the player is on it.

1. make a stair case
2. Mine out one of the stair blocks
3. clear the space under it so it leads to the void
4. make it look like a normal staircase by continuing the stair 2 blocks later the same layer
5. done
the people will think it is a normal staircase so they walk over it fall inti the hole and die

If I see a camouflaged skin in sky wars I usually warn the player. I've never encountered this trap though.

I've encountered a trap like this but instead 2 blocks where u drop down to kill the player there's a hole and there is flowing water pushing u into void

It could be an error where you forgot to put one stair case, and it isn't really a death trap because you could easily dodge it by jumping. Also it's basically just a hole to the void which is possible to avoid.

What if u had no pickaxe ? What if u hit your head while jumping and fall just because no picaxe

why do you need a pick Axe? And if you hit your head that makes it a death trap and if you hit your head it is still a possible jump. Called "head hitter jumps". Also if the person put the block above their head on purpose then it is a deadly trap and also, note that you can use a different route and you can just put a block there.
