Hey everyone! So.... My brother @CaptainCold and I have been arguing. He wants a bird, I want a hamster. Which do you think is better as a pet? Please vote in the poll :D
Birds! XD

Sorry Kendra, I love birds. I've had like five before xD

They chirp a lot, but if you put a cage outside you won't be able to hear them.

And if you do something to their wings (I forgot) they won't fly away.

They're really fun. Especially when they nibble you and drink my mums wine- wait what? ._. XD

Um.

I have an idea.

You can go to the pet store and see what birds and hamsters there are there. If one of you end up falling for the other's choice (because of extreme cuteness, or seeing how easy it is to take care of it compared to the other animal), then just get that.

If you still stand by your opinions, go look at the other animals. Surely there'll be an animal both of you can agree on which your parents will let you get?

If one of you're still persistent, then one of you are gonna have to give in to the other xD I'm sorry but that's what's gonna have to happen if you don't decide. Or someone else decides because they're fed up of your endless arguments.

Actually Kendra, I'm not siding with Cap or anything, but I think you need a change. If you keep having hamsters, you'll never get to experience other animals first hand. Not saying that's a bad thing or anything, but why not give birds a chance? Besides, all hamsters look almost the exact same. It's just fur colour, eye colour and fat that're different. And their personality and hobbies, but I doubt you can talk to hamsters, plus I don't think looking at one for hours is exactly entertaining. ._. I'm sorry. ._.

Thanks, Lauren.

Well, tbh, I don't really like birds. For me they're really loud and Cap wants a cockatiel and I think they need a lot of attention. I've heard you can put a blanket over their cage or something and they'll fall asleep but how can people be so sure of that? My first hamster was different, he didn't like things that most hamsters did, etc.

Hamsters are small, quiet, cheaper and they don't need as much attention, but birds are loud, need bigger cages, are more expensive and need attention. I know birds are more entertaining, but I'd still prefer a hamster. I've had a hamster before, so I know how to care for them, but we've never had a bird. My dad has had one before, but apparently birds usually bond with one person and our dad will probably try and tame it and then it will bond with him ._.
I'd much prefer a dog, a cat, a guinea pig or a rabbit, but my Mum says it's too much work and we don't have enough space ._.

I prefer a hamster. Because birds are loud, and while your sleeping or when guests come there'll be this chirping noise in the background and they might get a headache. ._. xD They also die easily if you don't give them much attention, like what my cousin did to her birds, and you'll eventually get bored of a bird, just watching it chirp, unless you get a talking parrot, which would be amazing, :D but most likely not going to happen. Birds also may escape easily, depending on their size they could go through the spaces in the bars, especially if you're trying to get them in a new cage. I know that's kind of dumb and probably won't happen, but it could, you may never know.

The reason I prefer hamsters are because they're usually quite energetic and you'll probably never get bored of them. They also don't need a lot of attention, they still can play in their cage and run around, especially if you give them fun small hamster equipment so they can play by themselves if you don't have time to give them attention for a bit, and if you put another hamster in the cage, it's most likely they'll communicate with eachother like any other human or animal and will get to know each other and make friends, then you're not forced to give them attention, because they are busy playing or with their friend whenever you're not around, unlike birds. They also are very lovable and you can actually sit down and hold it in your arms, pet it and feed it and bond with it, and birds can also bond with one person, as you said. You can even play with your hamster as long as you're sure it's safe.

See, that's exactly why I want a hamster and not a bird ^^^

I'm not sure if hamsters with communicate it you put them in cages because hamsters live alone.

I don't really want a pet that lives for like 16 - 25 a years, I'll be an adult by the time it dies and it will have to travel a lot. I'd rather have a pet that lives for 2 years.

If you still can't decide since it's been 5 days, why not just get nothing? .-.
