it's been years, where is everyone at?

omg woww I DID SEE YOUR TELESCOPE POST SO PRETTYY slay girl keep going and soon fellow nurse , alsooo what nursing field are you interested in? I always thought I'd like working in a hospital, but my last internship was in the neurology ward and I actually didn't really like the fast-paced, urgent atmosphere. Whenever there was an acute situation like someone getting uhh sepsis, a ruptured blood vessel, or sudden bleeding I realized I just don't like having to switch gears so quickly..

ALSO GOODLUCK TO YOU!! <3
I’m not sure yettt I do want to stay within a hospital setting, but department-wise I don’t know which ones would be suitable for me 😭 i only ruled out ER that sounds way too stressful and scary LOL, my mother does post-op care and that sounds chill to me if i wanted to straight up follow her, but idk yet i want to look into every department first 😭 all i know is i also wouldn’t be great in the fast-paced environments, sounds way too stressful for me to handle and my brain would blank out way too much 💔

THANK YOUU 🫶🫶

I feel you girl!!! On the other hand, a nursing home is pretty chill, but I just don't find it very challenging. A closed memory care unit is kind of funny but menta tiring, but somatic care is too heavy... definitely not for me. I do have colleagues who actually prefer somatic care because the patients' minds are still sharp. I've only had internships in closed memory care, psychiatry, intensive palliative chronic care, and lastly hospital neurology. In between, I also worked in cardiology and GI as a side job. But I think in the end, I'd rather have an office job anyway working more with data, improving efficiency, and focusing on process improvement hihi. I also heard that the op is indeed more chill, and the orthopedic ward at the hospital was recommended to me if you want something more predictable with no intense, acute situations soo maybe youd could look into that too!!

ooo, have you already thought about what kind of job youd want? Like becoming a data analyst, a researcher, or going into the policy field
Out the options you gave, probably a data analyst. The big topic surrounding stats is AI, as the field is an impact part of making models. That’s what I’m trying to look into now, but overall I want a job that involves data, since i believe data is the future and can be used for extreme good.

woaa hi everyone, it’s been years since I've been here!

When I got the email that the site was open again, I immediately thought I’d take a look. Now that it's been quite a few years, I'm curious where you all are at.

Are you guys still in school, did you finish your degrees, did you switch paths, did you end up where you originally wanted to be, or what career are you doing right now (and did you just become an unc for sure (; )?

As for me, I was in high school when I played BrokenLens regularly, and I knew I wanted to do something in the medical field. I didn't want to travel too far for uni, so I ended up doing a bachelor's in Nursing. But after my healthcare internships, I realized I didn't want to do bedside care for years. I actually liked the thesis, research, and data stuff way more! So I did a pre-master's in Health Sciences, and I'm starting my master's in Health Sciences next academic year. I'll probably end up doing something with policy work! (also lowkey running away from a fulltime job i am not ready for that haha)

Curious to hear from you, wishing everyone the best ( ⸝⸝•ᴗ•⸝⸝ )

Hiiiii,
Congrats on everything you’ve accomplished! and great to see what you already know what you wanna do in the future (still struggling with that , there’s so many diverse jobs to pick from 🙈) and I’m curious.. how did you figure out you wanted to go down the Business Administration and Marketing road? And how was the programming that sounds very diff than Business administration ;o
Also, I REALLY like the first pic you posted! It is so pretty, and the blue color is incredibly calming combined with the posture / facial expression of the female

Well i wanted to study business administration with a major in marketing since i want to have my own tattoo/piercing shop i want to know how to manage it by myself and how to promote it - i originally wanted to study programming or something related to it because i wanted to create videogames or the characters or the maps but after seeing what my brother does(he works in a programming company and creates websites) and what we had to do in my Programming workshop i figured it was too difficult and time consuming :,) and after that i just didnt really know what to study in uni so i guess i went for the Marketing road !
We also had a business administration workshop at my highschool but i didnt like it back then (and i still dont..) 😭

Aww, I'm sure you would have made it if you kept going! My boyfriend does computer science, and looking at his screen is literally like looking at another language... it looks incredibly difficult to me too! But I really believe that anyone who puts in the time and is motivated enough can learn it <3 That being said, tattoos clearly interest you way more, and marketing suits that career path perfectly! Since you actually like the marketing side of things, it's all going to work out great for your future shop. You've got this!!!
