No, not at all, you can do useful things with them like ride 'em off the cliff! Maybe use them as a transportation system which is slower than sprinting! They can be used for some redstone circuits though

I do agree with you on the "don't lie" part because lying is seriously a bad thing but: In this case, I don't see the harm in just sharing a regret, if not the biggest, I mean I don't see anyone getting hurt. And some of these do make people laugh and somewhat make their day : P
