it’s aight. nowhere near peak, but it’s aight. it tries to give the impression that it develops ahsoka more, but it also kinda forgets that ahsoka, for the most part, is a fairly finished character. in my opinion the show ruins sabine’s character. there are some cool new characters and concepts introduced though. that’s my best spoiler-free review of it.

you might flame me for this but i think kenobi’s in a similar position to ahsoka. stories that certainly have hype, nostalgia inducing moments but either don’t add anything to characters in the spotlight, fumble the delivery of certain characters, or in the case of obi wan kenobi, ruin iconic moments that occur later on. i don’t think having vader and obi wan meet before their final death star duel was necessary.

i don’t think we really needed an arc about kenobi saving a young princess leia. i really think this show should’ve focused much more on obi-wan’d mental state after the events of rots. the vader comics handled his coping after rots super well, and i think the kenobi writers should’ve leaned more into that direction, as his development largely occurs in spaces that aren’t real.

he goes through a whole mirage/mental arc of him attempting to save padme again, only going down the exact same path that led to his downfall. also, speaking of qui gon, it would’ve been interesting to see how obi wan learned from qui gon how to become a force ghost, but we never get this.

in my opinion, i think the obi wan show tried to be very bombastic, to up the stakes. in that however, they missed opportunities to flesh out the characters in unique ways. most of the show occurs on tatooine, with obi wan working through his thoughts, seeing visions, training with qui gon.
