thats good! considering how the majority of the school year was through online courses, passing is considered really good. ive seen so many people that have to go to summer school because they werent able to complete their assignments, which is totally reasonable since everyones burnt out and unmotivated at this point.
as for the program, its called PREP (aka pre-freshmen engineering program). before you go to college, a lot of middle and high schoolers complete this program to learn a variety of subjects, like physics and logic, in order to be more familiar with the topic of engineering, but the classes are kind of redundant since majority of the topics in PREP can already be learned in middle and high school.
its basically like school. theres separate periods for different classes, a lunch, another class, a one hour study hall, and one hour for tutoring. along with classes, you get homework and assessments. the program lasts for 45 days, and at the end, therell be a graduation day where people whom have gotten really high scores will receive their respective medals and awards.
if your average is 99 and above, youll get an outstanding medal. if its 98 and above, youll get an honors medal- things like that. upon completing three years of the program, youll be eligible to apply for college credit and apparently if you mention taking this program on your college application, its incredibly impressive.
im not really excited about it since its like school during summer, but ill just have to get through it lol.
anyways, your choices of favorite colors is pretty interesting since you like light blue and black because of aesthetics and fashion, which was something i was not expecting, but its totally cool. i bet youre a fashionista loll
my favorite color and why? well if grey/gray is considered a color and not a shade, then i would like it a lot since the color itself resembles me. not pure enough to be considered white, and not dark enough to be considered black, but instead, its in the middle, or perhaps a mix of the two.
i also really like orange and red since the colors alone remind me of my favorite anime characters- naruto and luffy. im just emotionally attached to those colors
but wow, typing all of that took a really long time lol
Yeah, to some extent, it didn’t truly feel like I was learning anything through online assignments compared to the experience of learning face to face. Plus, having new assignments everyday stacking on previous homework that students weren't able to complete add on to stress and frustration on their education.
Sooner or later, it is just a task of completing the work instead of learning from it; a majority of them burn out and drop out midway through the year as you stated.
Ah damn. It does sound a bit inutile to have such a program where it only lasts 45 days and afterwards, a graduation? And if all these topics are taught in middle and high school, then it’s pretty much pointless in my opinion to have a program to complete such subjects that you were already taught. But hey, that’s the education system I suppose.
Do you enjoy it? It sounds similar to a few programs they have over here in my high school to prepare students for college/university. And out of curiosity, are you required to pass the program with excellent marks in order to head to college or is it just a program to have students get a better sight of such subjects?
It’s a bit interesting altogether. We don’t have anything like that where I go besides having remarkable grades and obtaining a fantastic score on the SATs (which are a big thing for us,) and an acceptable GPA for college. It sucks that you had to go through it during summer but hell, anything to get to a decent college I guess???
Ooo, interesting choice! Gray is a marvelous color! Not too dark, not too light either. Gray really doesn’t get enough credit as a color, it’s a bit of a mystery itself. And orange and red are good choices too, even if just partly has to do with the naruto franchise lol
You do type fast if I do say so. Writing this alone took me 30 minutes due to the fact that I’m a slow thinker and writing as I’m thinking doesn’t work as swell when typing up something. Anyway, random question, do you have a favorite regional food of your preference?
yeah yeah the education does kind of suck, and it really did suck during quarantine. about prep, its totally optional. you dont have to do it to go to college, but it does help with college credit and looks decent on your college application. it can also help when getting a lot of stem jobs too i suppose.
yeah, same over here, sats and gpas are the main thing on any college application, but again, prep is totally optional. who would choose to go to hell? i suppose i would
today was actually my first day in this so called "hell." it wasnt fun at all- just super tedious. apparently the program lasts for 6 weeks long. getting through all six weeks is not going to be fun but whatever
favorite regional food? to be honest, i dont really have a preference. i like italian, american, indian, mexican, korean, japanese, etc. the only one i dont really like as much is probably chinese, which is pretty ironic since im half chinese, but its probably because im super picky when it comes to texture and taste, and lets just say my moms cooking is very... interesting.
because my mom sucks at making american food and because i dont like chinese food- which is what she typically makes, my mom buys me a lot of fast food and those heatable/cookable easy-made meals for me. its pretty unhealthy, but im trying to cut down the amount of unhealthy food i intake.
Yeah, basically an extra bonus to have on your college application. It’s like participating in a sport or club in high school, most schools observe student’s applications and look over to note if you’ve participated in a club or a sport. Again, it’s something I rather not do and stay over just to put it as a bonus on my college application but hey, anything to get into a decent college.
