Yiiiikes, you’re Australian right? I’m sorry I forgot where some people love. God that whole situation is awful. One of my friends loves to joke taht the world was ‘supposed’ to end in 2012 and it’s by mistake that we’re all still here, so since then the universe has just been chucking dumb and dangerous junk at us... honestly it really seems like that’s the case sometimes :/
On a lighter note, talking about Australia - one of my cousins moved there last year. Recently she sent my mum a video of a kangaroo that was standing outside the hospital, and she was ratified to get anywhere near the building lest that provoke it.
Then it came out more into the parking lot or something and she just stayed up between two cars whispering ‘don’t come near me, please, just go away, I just want to get to work’ etc while recording.
Yeah Straya is going to actually burn to the ground and we'll all have to move.
I'd movin' to Canada, nice and cold.
Also pfft kangaroos aren't that dangerous 8 times out of ten they'll run away. Then there's 1 time they'll just look at you and 1 time they'll try to beat you up, but really unless it's a red kangaroo you'd have nothing to worry about
Honestly the scariest part was when my neighbor over the back fence had a bonfire (VERY illegal, fire spreads really easily down here so we called the fire department and they forced them to put it out) and I was in bed. I could smell so much strong smoke and my reaction wasnt "Ah frick I'm gonna die" it was "Oh ffs more fire."
Also we can constantly smell smoke from fires frickin 670 Kilometers away.
That is... almost twenty times the length of my entire country. Almost four times the distance to the nearest island.
That’s genuinely unimaginable to me, I cannot comprehend a world in which I’m smelling smoke all the way from Anguilla, I can’t even try to visualise that distance.
Meh it's been happening for like 2.5 months now so I'm used to it at this point.
The smoke is crossing the ocean and going to New Zealand but that's only like 560 Kilometers or something. https://bit.ly/2G21fKH
^^ pic of smoke over nz
I'm relatively safe at this point. Only 3 fires have started within 3-4 Kilometers from me and they were put out pretty quickly.
And I'm like 100 kilometers from a really bad one which is 99450 hectares wide which means it's 994.5 kilometers in diameter and a fire behind that is 3102.63 square Kilometers in diameter.
