My name is Zathan. I was a former BrokenLens player in the server with a powerful storyline throughout the entire journey.
WHO I WAS:
My usernames in order transitioned from BSkillDaGaming to ItsBSkill to Zathan. I then decided to keep the name Zathan as putting a part of my real name into something unique.
HOW IT ALL STARTED:
It all started when I created my first ever account back in March 27, 2016... that means I was 9 years old. When I discovered BrokenLens as a server. The server looked quite small, but quite fun with all the minigames it held. I first had fun with TNTRun. Throughout the timeline, I made more accounts and played on the server occasionally whenever I felt bored. Which eventually led up to creating my official BrokenLens account that I was going to use for the rest of the experience in July 26, 2018. I was 11 years old turning 12 back then.
HOW I GOT TO WHERE I WAS / HOW I BECAME A WELL-KNOWN POPULAR BROKENLENS PLAYER:
When I started, I was irrelevant. I didn't have any in-game friends, but that didn't stop me from having fun. As my passion with Team SkyWars grew, so did the number of wins. As the number of Team SkyWars wins grew, the royal friend requests were increasing. I started making BrokenLens recorded content when I got my first phone on my 13th birthday and I grew a little fanbase based off the BrokenLens community which only made my in-game name popular.
I met so many amazing BrokenLens friends that I would write a huge list right here, but it would be crazy long, but you know who you all are! (full list is in my BrokenLens farewell video.)
For now, I will just name one that I grew up with and they truly stuck with me and is always there for me through my ups and downs... and who I consider as a brother to me. It's my favourite dutch man of all time. Martehhh. (YEP! I STILL TALK AND PLAY WITH HIM TO THIS DAY!
)
Talking about getting the #1 spot on Team SkyWars, I had a lot of perseverance in my spirit and a lot of motivation to keep going. When my body was tired, I didn't stop. When I was bored, I didn't stop. This leads to me also wanting to thank xMaegann_ because I took huge inspiration from her and this is what launched me as a BrokenLens player and I couldn't have done it without her.
WHAT I ACHIEVED:
At 11k Team SkyWars wins, I started daily-grinding wins every day until I got the #1 spot which lead to days where I got 100+ Team SkyWars wins in under 24 hours. AND IN ONE OF THOSE DAYS, I GOT A NEAR IMPOSSIBLE 200 TEAM SKYWARS WINS IN UNDER 24 HOURS.
I achieved becoming the #1 Team SkyWars player on the all-time leaderboard with the most wins on the server after under two years of grinding. WHICH WAS ALSO ACHIEVED ON MY 14TH BIRTHDAY!
I assume that I achieved becoming the first BrokenLens player to get a 9-kill game which is the maximum amount of kills you can get in one Team SkyWars match (but I did it choreographically.)
In the end, I achieved over 15,000 Team SkyWars wins.
HOW IT ALL ENDED:
Let's start with a part of which I thought was the end for me but thankfully was not. At some point when I was playing on the server. I had enough. I felt very done. I purposely got myself banned to avoid anymore temptation. Lot of words spread. Players in shock and disbelief.
Couple months later, I applied for a ban appeal after a change of heart and realisation that I was in the wrong place. They answered. They told me to wait another quarter of a year as a consequence to abusing the watcher's ban system.
Another couple months later, I reapplied, they forgave. They unbanned me. I was back.
Now let's jump to the conclusion of how my BrokenLens experience actually ended. Straight to the point, it ended when the BrokenLens server officially shutdown forever.
7 hours before the server shutdown, I participated in Martehhh's livestream to enjoy the last moments of the server while we still could. We both agreed to pull an all-nighter to watch the countdown go but before all this, we hopped into a global call of BrokenLens legends that participated in the final event and we spent the final hours playing the most fun minigames the BrokenLens server had left to offer. In the last minute, we all gathered in the BowSpleef lobby and said our goodbyes in the chat as the final minute countdown was going down. With great sadness, when the countdown was over, there appeared all of our BrokenLens gravestones on the dirt screen.
I was watching a Minecraft server that I grew up in... shutting down for good.
AFTERMATH / WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO:
2022-2023
Let's first talk about what happened in my experience after the BrokenLens shutdown. I felt empty and was in disbelief for a while but eventually I had to accept the fact the server was gone and I moved on. Every BrokenLens player I had kept in touch with on discord were eventually slowly branching out of their comfort zones and moving on with something new. Trying to invent new YouTube video ideas became harder since BrokenLens was the main source of content I had. We all eventually faded out each other and I could only speak to a few BrokenLens friends at least a few times a year. I began focusing more in school which I finished in mid 2023 with a sense of relief and freedom. Yes. I had a very horrible experience at school as there were too many harsh unbearable people there. Made me want to die. My old phone was starting to have issues with the gameplay of Minecraft so then I stopped for a while.
In September 10, 2023 on my birthday, I got a new and better phone which fixed the issue of super laggy gameplay on my previous phone that had only 32GB of storage and it was lame. Phone storage went from 32GB to 128GB on my 17th birthday. This lead to me coming back to Minecraft for good since I discovered I had an in-built screen recorder to record my gameplay for more YouTube videos. I also started college for the first time on the same month.
2024-2025
When the BrokenLens discord server hosted an exclusive summer event, this allowed me to rekindle with my great online friend and brother Martehhh in the game and meet his girlfriend and from there, we started playing together as regularly as we used to in BrokenLens.
On the way, I finished my first college course and then took it to the next level and got enrolled for a more professional-standard leveled course.
In April 2025, I started posted short-form Minecraft content to be more productive and gained a good following from it all.
2026 NOW!
You remember when I was a mobile player? I was a mobile player for 13 years throughout my whole Minecraft experience. It was fun!
But... on February, I bought my very first PC!
The very first game I bought was Minecraft, of course it will be! Mainly, the reason I bought my first PC was to build my career in editing and develop skills to invest.
From that point on, I began heavily focusing on college and nothing else more.
In June 18, (literally just a couple days ago from now), was the day I went to celebrate my final day at college with a big end of year show. I have officially finished college forever. Honestly, for the first time in ages, I felt very accepted in this college (unlike school) and I left college with a lot of emotions. There were loads of people there who I truly cared about and would do another college course for if it meant I would see them all again. I gave most of my people there the farewell we deserved to give each other. Some... I unfortunately couldn't because of their unavailability to turn up due to a college trip to Crete. Hugging my loved people goodbye, or giving them a 'see you later' farewell was honestly the most hardest thing I ever done. I am no where near ready to be separated from these people in my life. Even me typing this article still has me emotional.
Finally, what's next for me? I am 19 nearly turning 20 and I plan to continue developing my editing skills and improve it towards a professional standard. Since I took a break from content-creating too, I do want to get back to it during the summer time to be more productive and see if it will work out. If content-creation works out, or doesn't work out. I'll be good with that. I will continue to edit in whatever way - shape or form. It's a win-win situation here. I'll be working full-time in my next path.
About BrokenLens, I do think about it every now and then, I occasionally think about the community and friends we made along the way. If the server ever came back, I think I would be too old to play it and it just wouldn't feel the same vibes as much as the younger me felt. I think if I got back to it, I would try aim for 20,000 Team SkyWars wins if I could, lol.
DO I STILL PLAY MINECRAFT???
I have concluded my answer to this question. Surprisingly... yes.
