I started out on a PHP Minecraft server (PocketMine), but I recommend starting with JS or Python, as they are the easiest programming languages.

I program in Java and JS as a hobby; I've coded Minecraft Nukkit plugins, websites, Android apps, and even cross-play proxies. :)

Actually I am Owner of a server xd but I put it on a very cheap host and I am a programmer so I optimized it and the server is without lag ;)

unfortunately I don't think it will be able to return but there are servers created by brokenlens players and some of them are very funny and also a similar server called Suomicraft :) You could even create a server yourself there is a system that accepts all versions that brokenlens accepted if...
