What Is The Meaning Of Minecraft?

Wow it must have taken you so long to type everyone's names xD
Hmm.. I think they made it to fill the gap of there being no free roaming games. Minecraft is such a simple, yet original idea, and that's what made it affective. Being in your own world, building a house, taming wolves, playing with friends. I think the fact that the game doesn't have a story line is what makes it so popular. You can make up your own story line, role play, pvp, build amazing things, chat to people from all around the world on servers. These are just a few things that make Minecraft magical.
If I were to look at why they made it in a more negative way, I would say to make money. And make money they did. But in truth, most ideas never start with the motive to make money.
Ok there's my speech done xD

*turns off music* Ok, I need to think xD

If I remember correctly, Notch had wanted to make games since he was a child; it was just something he gained satisfaction from and enjoyed doing. (I think) he was also keen to educate kids on things that you don't learn in school, e.g. organisation, planning ahead, thinking outside the box - things that help you in life, in general. And the best way to teach people things is to make sure they enjoy learning it. And what do we enjoy? Games! xD

After that, as they continued to develop it, you could learn much more than just those things which you do in single-player survival, because they added creative mode. And in creative mode you can run free, do whatever you want; there are no limits, which I guess is what kids like best xD. Then there became the option of playing multiplayer worlds, which teaches you teamwork and coordination, and is usually more fun than just playing by yourself.

And then it just exploded and took over the world xD. There were MC merchandise, convention(s), spin-off games, multi-million-subscriber YT channels who gained their followers from playing Minecraft; it became an entire culture, rather than just a game.

I'm not sure if I really answered the question, but there xD

Btw was "thinking outside the box" meant to be a pun or was it unintended? xD
